Tomato Basil Rotini Bentos

Today's bentos are very basic. Nothing fancy, no big tricks here. The kids have tomato basil whole wheat rotini pasta, red grapes and heart shaped apples today. My sons pasta has meatballs and my daughters bento is vegetarian today!

Vegetarian Friday!

Today I made my daughter her vegetarian bento for the week. (I had forgotten to make her one this week.) So here it is! Star rice onigiri with a cheese star on top, carrot strips, edamame, sliced apples with yummy fruit dip! Below is her bento all closed up and ready to go! This is her favorite set! My daughter informed her brother today that his lunch was NOT vegetarian and that he was going to be eating a "dead animal" , a cow to be more specific and he stood there with a quizzical look on his face for a moment and then looked at me and simply said "I like cow, IT TASTES GOOD!" LOL! I laughed so hard, it was hilarious! Kids are so funny and HONEST!

My Daughters Vegetarian Bento #1 For The Week!

I took this pic with my cell phone so it is not all that great of a picture. My tamagoyaki did not come out very good at all this morning. That is what I get for rushing through it!!! I put steamed rice into a triangle shaped side dish cup and added a nori smiley face! Then cut out cheddar cheese hearts, sliced some Fuji apples and added some organic green beans to get some veggies in there!

My sons bento was the same except his had some rolled ham on food picks.

Mom, I want to be a vegetarian bento!

Well, my good camera had dead batteries this morning so I was forced to use my cell to take this pic. So it does not look very good at all. I wanted to post it anyway because this morning my 6yr old daughter informed me that she wants to be a "vegetarian"! I said to her "What exactly is a vegetarian?" She simply replied "You do not kill animals and eat them!" I thought OKKKKKKKKKK. I was thinking this must have come from school or something because we are not vegetarians in this house. I told her that a few times per week that I would make her a vegetarian bento & she was happy with that!
So her bento today was 2 hard boiled quail eggs, a cherry tomato, shelled edamame, chopped apples and some shredded mini wheats for a little sweet snack!
