Refreshing Homemade Organic Sports Drink

The summer is upon us, the kids are out of school and the heat is rising outdoors! Most kids are ready to run out that front door everyday to play now that school is out. The heat combined with the high energy activity that most kids engage in they are in seriuos need of hydration and nutrition! If you are like me the continuous question of "Mom, can I have a juice box?" can get quite old and can put a hurt on your grocery budget! 1st off water is always a great choice but with the kids sweating out in the heat of the day they also need more than plain water.

Ingredients for Homemade Organic Sports Drink:
Pure Organic Fruit Juice (No High Fructose Corn Syrup!)
Green Tea
Organic Sea Salt (Sea salt is best to use as an elctrolyte source)
Directions: Brew your green tea using green tea bags, fill your pitcher with half juice and half green tea. Add a pinch of organic sea salt, stir, and enjoy!
*If you are opposed to using green tea for some reason you can substitute the tea with water.

Most kids prefer the good ole juice box or juice cup. Good quality juice is costly and with the kids home all day it can go fast. A great way to restore their elctrolytes and to hydrate them you can make a great homemade organic sports drink for them. The great thing about it is that you dilute the juice which makes the juice go a long way and the health benefits of the green tea are fabulous to boot!

Like you, I have been making homemade organic sports drinks by diluting fruit juices. Fruit juices vary widely in the amount of sugar they contain, so I use the Fruit-Ade sports drink recipe to determine the relative amounts of water and fruit juice needed to give the ideal sugar concentration in a sports drink.
